Oh No. Albert Found You.
Meet Albert — My Great Bookkeeper’s blue book, unofficial BAS Boss and devoted defender of his one true weakness: the pink donut.
Albert has a way of making people feel blue when the bookkeeping is behind. Fortunately, you do not have to deal with him alone.

Albert’s Official Record*
Albert may look like he has come to investigate the place, but the file tells a different story.
- Known as: Albert, The Blue Book, The BAS Boss.
- Special interests: BAS, GST, PAYG and books that actually reconcile.
- Weakness: Pink donuts. Always pink donuts.
- Verdict: Good bloke. Slightly dramatic.
Why Is Albert Looking at You?
Turn the file that sounds suspiciously familiar. The bunny opens Albert’s evidence folders. 🐰
BAS Is Getting Close 🐰
Albert has checked the calendar. Twice. If the quarter is finished but the bookkeeping underneath the BAS is not, this is usually the point where “I’ll do it later” stops being a strategy.

One month becomes two. Two becomes six. Then Albert starts looking over the top of those glasses. Catch-up work is easier once somebody stops pretending spare time is about to magically appear.
🥕 Albert Has Seen This BeforeGST Looks Suspicious 🐰
A reconciled bank account does not automatically mean every transaction has the correct GST treatment. Albert likes the numbers to agree with the story the records are actually telling.
🥕 Get the BAS Records in ShapeThe File Needs Rescue 🐰
Missing transactions. Old reconciliation differences. Payroll liabilities that do not match. Reports nobody trusts anymore. Albert has officially moved from curious to concerned.
🥕 Admit the Books to Bookkeeping HospitalAlbert’s Donut Insurance Policy
Albert takes BAS compliance seriously. But every experienced negotiator has a weakness. Albert’s happens to be one very specific pink donut.
Are You Covered?
Albert may have found the books, but negotiations are not completely lost.
My Great Bookkeeper’s entirely unofficial Donut Insurance Policy exists for those delicate moments when Albert is looking at the BAS and everybody else is looking for somewhere to hide.
There is just one tiny problem.
Donut Insurance does not actually fix sick books.
The bookkeeping still needs to be reconciled, the records need to support the numbers, and the BAS needs to be based on what actually happened.
Albert’s Emergency Handling Instructions 🐰
Step 1: Do not hide the books from Albert.
Step 2: Do not tell him,
“I was going to catch everything up on Sunday.”
Step 3: Send the sick books to people who know
how to diagnose what has actually gone wrong.
Step 4: Keep the approved pink donut nearby
while negotiations continue.
When Albert Finds Sick Books
Albert can identify the symptoms. He is not the resident doctor. When the books need proper treatment, they go to Bookkeeping Hospital.
The Best Kind of Albert File
The investigation is over. The books are back under control. BAS compliance has stopped looking terrifying. Albert can finally concentrate on the important stuff.

CLIENT FILES · SEALEDSome of Albert’s best files involve real businesses whose books arrived unwell and left looking considerably healthier. Those stories belong here — but client details stay sealed until a case has been properly anonymised and cleared for the archive.
The Bookkeeping Backlog
A recovery file reserved for the business that arrived buried in overdue bookkeeping and left with its records brought back under control.
FILE SEALEDThe Reconciliation Mystery
Reserved for a real case where the numbers stopped making sense, the cause was tracked down and the books were put back together.
FILE SEALEDThe BAS Recovery
Reserved for a future anonymised story about getting the records healthy enough to move from BAS stress to a properly closed file.
FILE SEALEDThe Exciting Adventures of Albert
Albert has been wandering through My Great Bookkeeper for quite a while. Sometimes he is supervising compliance. Sometimes he is chasing overdue books. Sometimes he is flying through the sky with a pink donut.

When Pigs Fly
Albert takes to the skies with his pink donut while we pull apart some wonderfully questionable business advice and explain why facts beat wishful thinking.
🥕 View the EvidenceThe Books Are Overdue
Albert is back, the ATO letters are getting less amusing, and the bookkeeping backlog needs a plan rather than another promise to deal with it next week.
🥕 Follow Albert to the BacklogBookkeeping Hospital
When the books need more than a quick tidy-up, Albert knows where the patient needs to go. Ook gets admitted and Kee takes over treatment.
🥕 Enter Bookkeeping HospitalMeet the Cast
Albert joins the wider My Great Bookkeeper cast, proudly holding his donut while the team celebrates what happens when records, compliance and deadlines are brought under control.
🥕 Meet the Rest of the CastIs Your Bookkeeping Safe, or Is Albert Coming for You?
Answer three very important questions about receipts, BAS and the general health of your bookkeeping. We'll tell you whether Albert can stay happily occupied with his pink donut — or whether Bunny should prepare the Bookkeeping Health Check admissions desk.

Pick the answer closest to reality. Albert has specifically requested that “what I meant to do” is not accepted as supporting documentation.

Albert Is Funny. BAS Compliance Isn’t.
The blue book is here to make a dry subject easier to remember. Behind the character is a real bookkeeping business providing bookkeeping and Registered BAS Agent services.
If BAS is approaching, your records are behind, GST does not make sense, or the accounting file needs a proper clean-up, you do not need to hide from Albert.
* Albert is a fictional My Great Bookkeeper character created for education and humour. He is not an official ATO character and does not imply Australian Taxation Office endorsement or affiliation.
