Meet Annisha

Website Designer & Marketing Consultant

“Helping great businesses get noticed.”

Word of Mouth Is Wonderful. But Is It Enough?

Over the years, we’ve noticed something about many of the businesses we work with: they’re still relying heavily on word of mouth.

And honestly — maybe that’s how you found us.

There’s absolutely nothing wrong with word of mouth. It’s powerful.

But we also know how important it is for a business to stand out and be remembered.

You might come across plenty of bookkeepers, but we’re fairly confident you’re going to remember Ook, Kee and the rest of the My Great Bookkeeper world.

They’re part of what makes us unmistakably us.

And we want your business to have its own reason to be remembered too.

So Why Does My Great Bookkeeper Offer Marketing?

Because great bookkeeping helps you understand what is happening inside your business.

But a healthy business also needs something else.

Customers.

We care about whether your business can meet its BAS, super, wages and other liabilities on time.

We can look after the books.

We can help you understand the numbers.

But healthy numbers ultimately need customers behind them.

Being brilliant at what you do is important.

Making sure people know you exist is important too.

First, One Important Distinction

Annisha did not create the My Great Bookkeeper website or brand.

The My Great Bookkeeper website, its concept, its characters and the world you’re exploring here were created in-house by our founder and Registered BAS Agent, Rebecca — without a marketing agency or outsourced marketing team.

Just a BAS Agent with a passion for her own business, plenty of ideas and a determination to create something that didn’t look like every other bookkeeping website out there.

Rebecca has the passion to do this for My Great Bookkeeper.

What she doesn’t have is the time to do it for everyone else.

Her priority is where it should be: making sure your books are right, your compliance is taken care of, and you know what you need to meet your liabilities on time.

So while Rebecca has the passion for making My Great Bookkeeper stand out, we needed someone whose passion was helping your business stand out.

We Spent a Couple of Years Looking

We weren’t looking for someone to take over the My Great Bookkeeper brand.

We wanted someone with the creativity, energy and marketing skills to help our clients build their own.

Someone who could look at a business and start thinking about how to get it seen.

How to get it heard.

How to help the right customers find it.

And how to give people a reason to remember it.

And then we found Annisha.

And She Came to Us Like a Ball of Energy.

Annisha is keen to get your work out there.

She wants your business seen.
She wants your business heard.
She wants your business noticed.

Because having a wonderful business is one thing.

Making sure somebody actually notices it is another.

That Energy Is Exactly What Attracted Us to Annisha

Annisha brings a tremendous amount of energy to a conversation.

She is enthusiastic, creative and keen to get things moving.

But there’s something else about her that matters just as much.

She is very articulate.

She can explain what she sees, what she thinks could work better and where she sees an opportunity without making the whole thing feel unnecessarily complicated.

And she isn’t interested in bombarding you with a mountain of problems and then leaving you wondering what on earth you’re supposed to do about them.

Annisha looks for solutions.

If something isn’t working, the conversation becomes:

  • 🛡 What can we do differently?
  • 🛡 How can we make this better?
  • 🛡 How do we get more people to notice you?
  • 🛡 How do we make sure they remember you once they do?

That’s a much more useful conversation for a business owner than simply being handed a list of everything that is wrong.

She Wants Your Business to Be Seen — Properly

You can be exceptional at what you do.

You can provide brilliant service.

You can genuinely care about your customers.

But if nobody knows you’re there, none of that gets the chance to matter.

Annisha wants to help change that.

Why Does Any of This Matter to Your Bookkeeper?

Because we would quite like your business to have customers.

A lot of them, preferably.

We can make sure the bookkeeping is accurate.

We can help you understand your cash flow.

We can help make sure you know what is coming up for BAS, super, wages and other liabilities.

But eventually somebody has to put money into the business before we can help you manage what happens to it.

That’s why we care about whether people can find you.

And it’s why we wanted someone like Annisha around.

Rebecca Created Ours.

Annisha Is Here to Help You Create Yours.

My Great Bookkeeper already has its own personality, its own voice and its own slightly unusual way of doing things.

We don’t need Annisha to turn your business into ours.

We want her to help uncover what makes your business yours.

Bring Her a Problem. Expect Her to Start Looking for the Solution.

Annisha isn’t short on energy.

She’s articulate, enthusiastic and keen to get things moving.

And while she’ll absolutely tell you when she sees something that could be improved, she’s far more interested in what we can do about it next.

Because small-business owners already have enough people telling them what’s wrong.

Sometimes what you really need is someone to say:

“Right. Here’s what we can do.”

And then have enough energy to actually get started.

Before Annisha Markets Your Business, She Needs to Discover What Makes It Yours.

We don’t want Annisha to simply give you a nice website, pick a couple of colours and call it marketing.

We want her to discover the things about your business that people can connect with, recognise and remember.

Think about My Great Bookkeeper.

You might forget the name of another bookkeeping business.

But an orange book, a green book, a bunny and a carrot?

There’s a fairly good chance you’re going to remember where you saw those.

Your business doesn’t need our characters. It needs to discover what its own memorable thing is.
First — Tell Annisha Your Story
🐰 Why Did You Start Your Business?

Forget the polished version. What actually happened?

Did you see something being done badly and think you could do it better?

Did somebody encourage you?

Did you fall into it accidentally?

Did you simply love doing the work?

🐰 Why Are You Still Doing It?

Starting a business is one story. Staying in it is another.

What still makes you care?

What part of the work gives you that moment of: “Yep. This is why I do this.”

🐰 What Do You Wish People Knew About What You Do?

What do customers constantly misunderstand?

What do you find yourself explaining over and over again?

There may be an entire marketing message hiding inside that answer.

🐰 What Would You Never Compromise On?

What matters so much that you would rather lose the sale than do it badly?

Quality? Honesty? Safety? Accuracy? Service? Care?

Now Tell Her About Your Customers
🐰 Who Is Your Favourite Customer?

Think of an actual person you loved working with.

You don’t need to tell us their name.

What made them such a good fit?

🐰 What Do Customers Say That Makes You Think, “They Trust Me”?

Is there something customers say or do when you know the relationship has changed?

“I’ll leave it with you.”

“What do you think we should do?”

“I knew you’d sort it out.”

Those words tell Annisha what trust looks like in your business.

🐰 What Do Your Customers Thank You For?

Not what you invoice them for.

What do they actually thank you for?

Making something easier? Listening? Explaining? Fixing the problem nobody else could?

🐰 What Is Your Customer Worried About Before They Find You?

What has gone wrong before they call you?

What are they Googling at 10 o’clock at night?

What are they frustrated, confused or completely fed up with?

🐰 What Changes After Someone Works With You?

Before they meet you, how do they feel?

Afterwards, what is different?

Less stressed? More confident? More organised? Relieved?

🐰 What Makes Customers Come Back?

What makes someone choose you for the second, third or tenth time?

That is part of what your marketing should communicate.

Now Let’s Find the Visual World of Your Business
🐰 What Are Your Favourite Colours?

What colours do you actually love?

And which colours do you absolutely hate?

Annisha can work out how those preferences translate into a usable brand.

🐰 If Your Business Were an Object, What Would It Be?

A compass? Key? Hammer? Lighthouse? Coffee cup? Toolbox?

Or something completely ridiculous?

Tell her anyway.

🐰 What Image Immediately Makes You Think of What You Do?

It doesn’t need to literally show your service.

What picture captures the feeling of it?

🐰 If Your Business Had a Character, What Would It Be Like?

Serious? Cheeky? Protective? Clever? Calm? Energetic?

Would it wear work boots? Carry a laptop? Hold a coffee?

🐰 What Would Make Someone Recognise You Without Seeing Your Name?

A colour? A symbol? A phrase? A character? A sense of humour?

If the answer is currently “nothing”, that is exactly something Annisha can explore.

🐰 What Absolutely Does NOT Look Like You?

Too corporate? Too beige? Too childish? Too serious? Too sterile?

Show Annisha examples and say: “Anything but this.”

What Does Your Business Sound Like?
🐰 How Do You Actually Talk to Customers?

Formal? Relaxed? Warm? Funny? Straight to the point?

Your website should sound like your business, not like it swallowed a corporate dictionary.

🐰 What Do You Say All the Time?

Do you have a phrase customers hear constantly?

Something unmistakably yours?

That phrase may contain more personality than a page full of marketing copy.

🐰 What Would You Never Say?

Are there words or expressions that make you cringe?

Knowing what does not sound like you is just as useful as knowing what does.

🐰 Are You Happy to Have Some Personality?

Completely professional? Warm? Cheeky? Bold? Very different?

There is no right answer. There is only the answer that fits your business.

Now Show Annisha the World Around You
🐰 Show Her Three Competitors

Not so we can copy them.

Quite the opposite.

Where is everyone in your industry doing exactly the same thing?

🐰 Which Businesses Do You Remember?

They don’t even need to be in your industry.

What businesses stick in your mind?

What made you remember them?

🐰 What Does Everyone Else in Your Industry Say?

“Quality service.”

“Professional solutions.”

“Customer focused.”

If every competitor can say it, it probably isn’t what makes you memorable.

🐰 Why Should Someone Pick You Instead?

Don’t give Annisha the brochure answer.

Give her the answer you would give a friend.

That is the answer she wants.

And Finally — Where Are We Going?
🐰 What Do You Want More Of?

More enquiries? Better enquiries? More bookings? More repeat customers?

Marketing needs somewhere to go.

🐰 What Do You Want Less Of?

Wrong-fit customers? Price shoppers? Tiny jobs? Constant explanations?

Good marketing can also help people understand when you are not the right business for them.

🐰 Where Do You Want This Business to Be in Three Years?

Bigger? Smaller? More specialised? More local? Australia-wide?

Annisha needs to know what she is helping you build towards.

🐰 What Would Make You Proud to Send Someone to Your Website?

Imagine someone asks: “What do you do?”

You send them your website.

What would you love them to think after five minutes?

And Please Don’t Throw Away the Weird Ideas.

If you have an odd idea, tell Annisha.

If there’s an object that reminds you of your business, tell her.

If customers have given you a nickname, tell her.

If there’s a story everybody in the business knows, tell her.

If you’ve always thought, “Wouldn’t it be funny if our website did this...” tell her.

Not every idea will make it into the finished marketing.

But sometimes the thing that initially sounds a little strange is exactly what stops your business looking like everybody else’s.

You bring the business. Annisha will start joining the dots.

You do not need to arrive knowing your brand strategy, your colour palette, your SEO keywords or what your next advertising campaign should look like.

Tell Annisha who you are.

Tell her about your customers. Your stories. Your weird ideas. Your favourite colours. The things people say about you. The things you do differently. And the reason you are proud of the business you have built.

Then give that ball of energy something to work with.

Her job is to start finding the story, the look, the message and the opportunities that can help your business get seen, heard and remembered.

What Sucks in Your Industry — and What Are You Doing About It?

Every industry has something that drives people mad.

The frustrating bit.

The outdated process.

The thing customers have somehow been trained to accept as “just how it is.”

Tell Annisha what sucks.

Then tell her what your business is doing differently.

Because somewhere in that frustration may be one of the strongest reasons for a customer to choose you.
🐰 What Is Driving You Mad About Your Industry?

What do you keep seeing that makes you think:

“Why are we STILL doing it like this?”

Maybe the process is old-fashioned.

Maybe communication is terrible.

Maybe nobody explains anything properly.

🐰 What Do Customers Put Up With That They Shouldn’t Have To?

Long waits?

No one returning calls?

Confusing pricing?

Being passed from person to person?

Not knowing what happens next?

Too much jargon?

🐰 What Do You Refuse to Do the Same Way?

What have you deliberately changed in your own business?

Maybe you communicate faster.

Maybe you explain things properly.

Maybe your process is simpler.

Maybe customers know exactly what they are paying for.

That difference is worth talking about.

🐰 If You Could Change One Thing Tomorrow, What Would It Be?

Pretend you have the power to change one thing.

What disappears?

What becomes easier?

What stops frustrating customers?

🐰 What Are Your Competitors All Saying?

If everybody in the industry says the same thing, it probably does not tell customers much about you.

Tell Annisha what everybody else sounds like.

Then she can start thinking about how your business can sound like itself.

🐰 What Are You Brave Enough to Say Out Loud?

Is there something everyone in the industry already knows but nobody really says?

We are not talking about attacking competitors.

We are talking about being honest about a problem your business genuinely tries to solve differently.

🐰 How Does Your Business Make the Sucky Part Better?

Now turn the complaint into something useful.

What does your customer get instead?

Instead of waiting — what happens?

Instead of confusion — what do you explain?

Instead of being ignored — how do you communicate?

🐰 What Do You Want Customers to Say About the Difference?

Imagine your customer has just finished working with you.

What do you want them telling somebody else?

“That was easier than I expected.”

“They actually explained it.”

“Someone finally listened.”

“Why doesn’t everyone do it this way?”

Don’t Just Tell Annisha What Sucks.

Tell her why it bothers you.

Tell her why it bothers your customers.

Tell her what you decided to do differently.

Because the message is not:

“Everyone else is terrible.”

The message is:

“We saw the problem too — so we decided to do something about it.”

And when the right customer sees that, we want them thinking:

“Finally. Someone gets it.”

Tell Us Why Your Business Is Different

We’ve given you plenty to think about.

You do not need to answer every question before you contact us.

Just tell us your story.

Tell us what you do, what you think makes your business different, what is driving you mad, what your customers love about you and where you would like to go next.

Don’t worry about making it perfect.

Give Annisha the raw material.
She can start looking for the story.
